Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga has challenged film critics after his latest film Romanchakam garnered mixed reviews. While speaking to YouTube channel Tag Telugu, Vanga asked critics to review his brother Sandeep Reddy Vanga’ films Spirit similarly. Spirit stars Prabhas and Triptii Dimri.
Reviewed Romanchakam opened in theatres on September 3 and earned mixed- to average reviews from critics. The film is directed by Venu Gopal Reddy and features Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar in lead roles.
Romanchakam revolves around a young engineering graduate based in Hyderabad who tries to create a startup along with his friends. Soon after he meets a Chennai girl and things take a new turn as the two start dating over-distance only for her to visit Hyderabad later.
Trade website Sacnilk reported that Romanchakam has garnered around ₹9.72 crore gross across the world post its theatrical release.
Call-out for critics
Speaking about critics, Pranay Reddy Vanga said that criticism is not as easy as producing films. “Movies that release in theatres don’t work like this. Ninety out of 100 films fail,” he said during the interview.
Further adding, Pranay said, “If you go into production you will understand how much struggle the director goes through to give life to what’s on paper. The issues that occur during production.”

Elaborating further, he said that reviews don’t impact films at the box office. “Movies with negative reviews work, sometimes films with good reviews don’t work. So whoever.. ultimately the audience is going to decide,” he said.
The Challenge to Critics
Taking a shot at Romanchakam critics, Pranay said people might be reviewing his film harshly since it is a smaller budget film. “Idi chinna cinema kabatti deeni mida pedda, kodi guddu mida eekalu peekutunattu edo chestunaru. Valu nizamga cheyyadalsukunte, Spirit vastundi kada, chuskundam. Spirit lo chuddam,” he said.
He continued by saying, “If they can review Spirit like this … Because this is a small film, they are doing all this to me as if they are plucking feathers from a chicken egg. If they are really capable of doing it, Spirit is coming, right? Let’s see. We’ll see it with Spirit,” he said as per a translation from Telugu to English by News18.
The host asked Pranay if he just challenged the film critics and he replied in the affirmative and said that he is very sure about Spirit.
