Nine South Indian films will hit screens next week including Hindi-Malayalam investigative drama Daayra starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Malayalam supernatural drama It’s a Medical Miracle.
Nine films spanning Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tulu will release next week. The majority of films are set to release on September 18.
Meghna Gulzar-directed Daayra marks the first-ever screen pairing between Kapoor Khan and Sukumaran . The film has been produced by Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios.
It revolves around two senior police officials who are put on opposite ends of an investigation based on a controversial police encounter and a case that creates ripples nationwide .
Kapoor Khan will essay the role of DCP Ajooni Kohli while Sukumaran will star as DCP Raman Kumar. As seen in the trailer, Ajooni questions Raman Kumar about an encounter killing where his officers fired at suspects .
Talking about their characters, Gulzar called them ‘yin and yang’. The film raises questions regarding crime, punishment and justice and is based on a true story.
Sharing the lead are Jitendra Joshi, Kshitee Jog, Kanwaljeet Singh, Sandeep Kulkarni and Trupti Khamkar. Daayra releases on September 18.
Directed by newcomers Shyamin Gireesh, It’s a Medical Miracle is penned by actor Nileen Sandra. Leading the cast are Sangeeth Prathap and Sharaf U Dheen.
It’s about how Sangeeth’s character develops super-human hearing after waking up from a coma, as teased in the film’s teaser.
Sharing the female lead is Akhila Bhargavan. Kottayam Nazeer, Anand Manmadhan, Kiran Peethambaran and Parvathy R Krishna play pivotal roles.
Produced by Dr Paul Varghese and Sujith J Nair, the film is presented by Dr Paul’ Entertainment and Dream Big Films. It’s a Medical Miracle releases on September 18.

Directed by Abhiramm Naidu, Happy Journey tells the story of seven women belonging to different generations who embark on a cross-Europe journey as they decide to spend their holidays spontaneously.
Directed by Arjun Dev, Toss is a Kannada and Tulu bilingual film starring Arjun Kapikad, Sutej Shetty, Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor in lead roles.
The film’s narrative centers around Shiva who lives a simple and content life with his parents. However, when two strangers cross his path and mysterious happenings take place in his father’s drama troupe, his life takes a turn for the worse.
L&O – Law and Order is a Malayalam action film starring Prakash Varma, Joy Mathew, Suresh Krishna, Abhirami and Shankar Ramakrishnan. Famously comedian Mammootty is seen in a cameo appearance. Directed by Ranjith, the film centers on DYSP Balagopal (Varma), who dares to take on a mighty syndicate and teams up with five academy pass-outs to form his squad.
Directed by Manoj Annaiah, Anireekshita Atithigalu stars Vivek Simha, Mythri Jaggi, Samprathi Alva and Daya Pallavagere. The thriller tells the story of a young couple, who had planned to spend quality time at an isolated guest house run by relatives. But they soon face unwelcome visitors.
Enna Vilai is an upcoming Tamil social thriller drama film directed by Sajeev Pazhoor and starring Karunas and Nimisha Sajayan. The film chronicles Thavasi, a fisherman in Rameswaram who discovers a mysterious gold pendant washed ashore which later turns his life upside down after being falsely accused and dragged into a bigger conspiracy. Thavasi struggles to protect his family and dignity with only Kanchana’ support. Enna Vilai also stars Kamalesh Jegan, Vijayalakshmi Veeramani, Shashaa Shivakumar and Mohan Raman. The film is set to be released on September 17, 2026.
Secret Soldier is a Telugu action film starring Nihal Kodhaty, Surya Srinivas, Kamal Kamaraju and Harshitha Rao. Directed by Akki Viswanadha Reddy, the film follows Nithi and Prashanth who are childhood friends and hail from Nellore. Their lives take a turn when confidential defence files related to military intelligence get leaked abroad by an ISI mole.
Prakashraj and Rajpal Yadav star in this Malayalam-language social drama. The film has not released its synopsis yet.
Daayra will release in Malayalam and Hindi while It’s a Medical Miracle releases in Malayalam only.
